Did you know: The iX features a “Carbon Cage?” What BMW refers to as “intelligent lightweight design,” the Carbon Cage is comprised of all-carbon fiber/epoxy structures made from stitched, nonwoven fabrics, all assembled via robotics. After combining the Carbon Core found in the 7-series with the full carbon body from the previous i vehicles, the i3 and i8, the iX’s shell is said to be 176 pounds lighter than the X5, although it resembles a similar size.
