President Trump has transferred 110,000 acres of Federal land along the US border to the army, essentially turning a large part of the land along the border into a huge army base. This was apparently done as a workaround because the Posse Comitatus act does not allow the military to be used in domestic law enforcement, but they can have powers of arrest in protecting their bases from trespassers and other intruders.
