The parents of Sudiksha Konanki requested that authorities in the Dominican Republic officially declare their daughter dead about two weeks after the University of Pittsburgh student went missing in Punta Cana.

A Dominican Republic court is expected to decide on Tuesday whether the last person thought to have seen missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki can leave the country.

The parents of a U.S. college student who vanished almost two weeks ago in the resort town of Punta Cana have asked authorities to declare her legally dead.

Authorities initially said they believed Sudiksha Konanki drowned but have not ruled out foul play in her disappearance.
