Days after Granada Hills and Porter Ranch lost water service, L.A. Mayor Karen Bass and other officials urged thousands of customers to stop using water, saying toilet flushes and lawn sprinklers were slowing repairs.

As people in Porter Ranch and Granada Hills continue to live without water amid blistering summer weather, Los Angeles officials Friday pleaded with residents not to use the water service.

Thousands of San Fernando Valley residents were expected to remain without water through the weekend as repair work continues days after their service was first interrupted on Tuesday.
