The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday issued a red warning for several districts which are likely to experience heavy to extremely heavy rainfall under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm Dana which is expected to hit somewhere near Bhitarkanika and Dhamra in Odisha on October 24-25.

Bhubaneswar: Parts of Kendrapara and Bhadrak districts in Odisha experienced rain and adverse weather conditions Wednesday afternoon with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) saying that the outer band of Cyclone ‘Dana’ has begun to affect the eastern coastline.

The IMD on Wednesday made it clear that cyclonic storm Dana will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over northwest Bay of Bengal by early morning of October 24 and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamara (Odisha) during night of 24th to morning of 25th October 2024.
