The city of Joplin has been awarded a grant for nearly half a million dollars for renovations and improvements at Parr Hill Park. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Division of State Parks awarded the city an Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership grant for the park near 18th Street and Michigan Avenue,

The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners gave its provisional approval to the fest’s host Niantic at Wednesday’s monthly board meeting, with an option to renew in 2027. Dates in 2026 are set for June 5-7. Daily attendance will be capped at 40,000 people.

A series of more than a dozen robberies have targeted victims at multiple Chicago landmarks, including Millennium Park and Grant Park.

The Town of Leland has successfully secured a $443,108 grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to fund the development of its future Sturgeon Creek Park. READ

“These grants are designed to bring new life to urban parks and ensure every resident has access to safe, modern green space,” City Councilor Tracye Whitfield said. “By not applying, Springfield has left money on the table and left our neighborhoods behind. That is an equity and civil rights issue.”
