The U.S. Energy Information Administration in its latest Short Term Energy Outlook estimated that national gasoline prices will average $3.20 a gallon in 2025, down from $3.30 this year and $3.50 in 2023.

In Michigan, gas prices hit an average high of $5.22 a gallon mid-2022, but come down significantly in recent months.

Mobile fuel price app GasBuddy activated its Fuel Availability Tracker in Florida earlier this week to assist motorists and residents looking for fuel as Hurricane Milton made landfall. The Dallas-based company has been posting updates as the storm progressed and in its aftermath.

Florida motorists paid an average of $3.09 for regular unleaded gas, which was a penny less than the cost before Hurricane Milton's Oct. 9 landfall in Sarasota County.
