From the weird accent to the real friction, Kelly's four years in Baton Rouge were a slow-motion culture clash that ended the only way it could
Brian Kelly’s firing came after a “very tense” meeting with LSU’s athletic director. Scott Woodward met with Kelly Sunday after the team’s ugly home loss to Texas A&M the day before and clashed over staff changes, according to The Athletic.
Kenny Lacy posted to Facebook on Monday with an anecdote about LSU's new interim coach Frank Wilson and some other coaches visiting with the Lacy family after Kyren's death. Notably absent was Kelly, who Lacy says never sent so much as a call or text.
“Coach Kelly gave me an opportunity to come here,” Freeman said, via Mike Beradino of the South Bend Tribune. “I’m always rooting for him. But it’s also the profession we’ve chosen. We know that can be a result of choosing this profession.” Freeman said he hated to see Kelly lose his job, knowing that it would affect families and players.
