In her book titled Witness, Sakshi had said that the decision of Vinesh and Bajrang to accept exemption from the Asian Games trials last year had hurt the image of the wrestlers’ protests against ex-WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Sakshi Malik claimed their protest developed cracks when "people close to" Bajrang and Vinesh began to fill their minds with "greed", adding that the wrestlers' decision to accept exemption from the Asian Games trials last year hit the image of their protest against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh as it made their movement seem "selfish".
