New York City, mayoral debate
Digest more
New York City is about to pick its next mayor—and this one’s not a sleepy civics quiz. After a noisy primary season and a final debate that seems to have actually moved a few needles, the race heads to the finish line with early voting starting tomorrow, October 25, and Election Day on November 4.
Adams dropped out of the race last month but will still appear on the ballot. He had run as an independent after the Justice Department dropped corruption charges he had been facing.
Voters will have a chance to weigh in on ballot questions concerning the housing crisis and when local elections should be held.

Zohran Mamdani, who would be the city’s first Muslim mayor, could be on the cusp of shattering that convention.
