Former England captain Casey Stoney has been appointed the new head coach of Canada Women’s national team (CANWNT). The Athletic initially reported on Friday that Canada Soccer had agreed terms with Stoney to take over as the new head coach of its women’s team and this has now been confirmed.

The 42-year-old Stoney signed a three-year contract with Canada Soccer that runs through the 2027 Women’s World Cup, with an option for 2028, the federation announced Monday. She most recently coached the San Diego Wave in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Casey Stoney is officially the new head coach of the Canada women’s national team, as The Equalizer reported on Friday. Stoney takes over as head coach after being fired from her post as San Diego Wave head coach in June.
