ORLANDO, Fla. - Tropical Storm Erin continues its steady westward march across the Atlantic, gaining strength and expected to reach hurricane status by Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— Tropical Storm Erin is expected to become a hurricane by Friday, the National Hurricane Center said. Erin is moving westward at approximately 17 mph and will continue this motion today before transitioning to a west-northwestward motion tonight and into the weekend.
