President Trump landed in Los Angeles Friday afternoon to tour damage from the devastating Palisades Fire, one of two deadly wildfires in the LA area this month, greeting Gov. Gavin Newsom who was waiting at the bottom of the steps to Air Force One.

The Trump administration apparently opted not to coordinate at all with Gov. Newsom while planning the president's visit to fire-ravaged Los Angeles today. Just how awkward will this be?

California should, then, follow a University of Chicago conclusion: “Wildfire emissions need to be a key part of climate policy if California is going to meet its emission reduction goals.” Instead, Newsom and company use climate change as an excuse, suggesting in essence that their hands are tied until we reverse the Earth’s climate trajectory.

California passed a set of bills to expedite LA wildfire recovery funds as part of an extended special session called by Gov. Gavin Newsom in response to Palisades and Eaton fires.

Officials released details about the recovery effort from the initial Los Angeles fires — an effort expected to last up to 18 months as authorities clear the wreckage.
