A Little Rock high school student has won a National Merit Scholarship award worth $2,500, joining a cohort of nearly 7,000 other high schoolers nationwide who were offered a merit scholarship.

Five people were killed and four injured in four crashes on Arkansas roads between Thursday and Sunday, according to preliminary reports from law enforcement.
