The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners gave its provisional approval to the fest’s host Niantic at Wednesday’s monthly board meeting, with an option to renew in 2027. Dates in 2026 are set for June 5-7. Daily attendance will be capped at 40,000 people.
The festival, which Chicago hosted from 2017 to 2019, will feature immersive game experiences, merchandise and other attractions.
A series of more than a dozen robberies have targeted victims at multiple Chicago landmarks, including Millennium Park and Grant Park.

That is an equity and civil rights issue.”
