The Gophers held a five-point lead with two minutes remaining but couldn't finish the job, ultimately losing in overtime in a nonconference matchup. Minnesota (5-2) will play in the third-place game on Friday against the loser of the second semifinal game involving No. 18 Florida or Wake Forest.

Wichita State’s Harlond Beverly nailed an off-balance three as time expired in regulation to send the game into overtime where the Shockers pulled away and advanced in the ESPN Events Invitational. It was a tight game where no team led by more than four until the final couple of minutes when the Gophers were up 5 with 2:34.
