Nintendo has finally revealed the Switch 2 — but it didn’t reveal everything. Even still, the new console looks pretty much like a bigger, more refined Switch. Sure, that’s the straightforward and expected move from Nintendo. But it’s also exactly what I’ve been waiting for.

Nintendo has unveiled the long-awaited successor to its popular Switch video game console: the Nintendo Switch 2. First-look images at the console design and a teaser trailer were revealed by Nintendo Thursday, but the Japan-based video game company has held back the price tag for the Switch 2 as well as the official release date.

Yooka-Replayee is also slated to launch on Switch 2 (although there’s no telling if it’ll be there at launch) while a sort of Diablo-like game about catching and leveling monsters in Synth Beasts could help cover any potential Pokemon -shaped holes in the lineup.

The Nintendo Switch 2's specs are still a bit of a mystery, but the one official video teaser still revealed a lot.

In a video released a few minutes ago, Nintendo showed off the new-look console, confirmed a 2025 release date, backwards compatibility, and a Nintendo Direct dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2 that will air on April 2. You can check that trailer out below.
