Leading games industry analysts predict that the Nintendo Switch 2 could well match and succeed its predecessor in first-year sales, though it's far from guaranteed and requires Nintendo to have the stock ready to go.

Loads of key details about the Switch 2 console were leaked way before they were officially shown by Nintendo, and an analyst says it "ruined the reveal". Nintendo finally officially revealed the console on January 16 showing off a number of features,

Nintendo believes "the best direction" for the Switch 2 is to allow gamers "to play their already purchased Nintendo Switch software on the successor", though added the upcoming console wouldn't fully support every older title.

Robin Zhu, video game analyst at firm Sanford C. Bernstein, says Nintendo has adjusted its supply chain network to accommodate over 20 million Switch 2 sales in the console's first year on the market, Bloomberg reports. For comparison, both the PS5 and original Switch sold about 15 million units a year after their respective releases.
