OTTAWA--U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has warned that Canada's national sales tax will be subject to retaliation, adding to the list of tariffs the Trump administration is seeking to impose on its northern neighbor and major trading partner.

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on Thursday said the one-month reprieve on hefty tariffs on goods imported from Mexico and Canada that has been granted to automotive products is likely to be extended to all products that comply with the U.

Since Trump returned to office, Navarro has also been on the frontlines defending Trump’s tariffs against Mexico and Canada. He also has denied a report from the Financial Times that says he was pushing to cut Canada out of the Five Eyes, which is an intelligence group between Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, Australia and U.K.
