Three Mainers, one Canadian, and 16 dogs are traveling to Alaska where they'll replicate a 100-year-old expedition that saved the lives of many.

Musher Jonathan Hayes said he hopes the expedition will honor the heroism of the original trek and highlight the importance of the Seppala Siberian dog breed.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski announced Thursday that she would vote against confirming Pete Hegseth to lead the Pentagon, becoming the first Republican to oppose one of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks. Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins also voted against Hegseth.
