The crew is expected to begin work Monday. California fire managers requested their help for 14 days. A typical daily shift lasts between 14 to 16 hours. “Our fire management crews train year-round to be prepared to step up when called upon,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said in the statement.
According to a release from the governor’s office, fire managers in southern California sent out a request for additional resources on Thursday. In response, DeWine ordered a team from ODNR’s Division of Forestry in Columbus to Beaumont, California. Southern California has been facing constant challenges in controlling the fires.
