Williams and her fellow astronaut, Butch Willmore, have been on the ISS since June 2024. Discussing the challenges of long-duration space missions, Williams revealed, “We work out two hours a day. Our bodies have changed a little bit, and that's why we have to work out so much. Some people call it space buff.”

Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, both NASA astronauts, have been stuck at the International Space Station for more than six months due to a Starliner spacecraft malfunction. They are set to return to Earth in February 2025.

NASA has a long tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving in space. In 2024, astronauts Barry Wilmore and Donald Pettit will mark their third Thanksgiving aboard the ISS. NASA highlighted the tradition of sharing festive meals, with similar dishes served on past missions, such as smoked turkey, yams, and cranapple dessert, which Pettit enjoyed in 2008.
