Redshirt freshman Drew Mestemaker passed for a school-record 608 yards with four touchdowns and North Texas scored 37 unanswered points to beat Charlotte 54-20 on Friday night.

After an opening three-and-out for the Charlotte offense, North Texas (7–1, 3–1 American) struck first on a three-play, 80-yard drive. Mestemaker hit senior receiver Cameron Dorner down the right sideline for a 41-yard touchdown just two and a half minutes in, giving the Mean Green a 7–0 lead.
