Microsoft says it’s working with Ubisoft to fix a problem with its latest Windows 11 update that’s been crashing some games, and it’s put the update’s release on pause for devices with those games in the meantime.

Microsoft has acknowledged that its latest major Windows update has stopped certain Ubisoft games from working. Windows 11 version 24H2, which is the the third major update to Windows 11 since the operating system was released three years ago, has been rolling out throughout the month.

Microsoft has stopped offering updates to Windows 11 version 24H2 on PCs that have certain Ubisoft games installed, Bleeping Computer reports. The company made the move after complaints that Star Wars Outlaws and games in the Assassin’s Creed series were crashing after installing the new Windows update.

PC gamer updating to Windows 11 version 24H2 take note, especially if you're playing any Ubisoft games. Compatibility issues have been reported.

Windows 11 24H2 has just received an optional update which comes with some useful tweaks to the interface. This is patch KB5046740 and it’s in preview – so as ever, you might come across glitches if you install it – and the main changes on the desktop are applied to the taskbar and Start menu.
