Following the death of an inmate at the Marcy Correctional Facility in in Oneida County, New York Governor Kathy Hochul visited the facility to speak to the new interim leadership and other incarcerated people.

Hochul also announced immediate corrective measures. She already ordered a comprehensive investigation into Brooks's death and instructed New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Commissioner Daniel Martuscello to initiate the termination process for the 14 individuals involved in the fatal incident.
