The new govt of Maharashtra is yet to be sworn in more than a week after the BJP-led NDA, also known as Mahayuti, clinched a landslide victory in state polls.

More than a week after the Mahayuti won a landslide majority in Maharashtra polls, the new government is yet to be sworn in.

Amid continued suspense over who will succeed Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, a senior BJP leader on Sunday night said that the name of Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised. The claim was made by a senior party leader while speaking to news agency PTI.

"The name of Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised as the new chief minister of Maharashtra. The meeting to elect the new BJP legislature party meeting will be held on either December 2 or 3," a senior BJP leader told PTI.

Earlier, outgoing CM Eknath Shinde stated that he would support the BJP’s decision to pick the new chief minister.

Devendra Fadnavis has reportedly been finalised as Maharashtra's next chief minister, with the BJP legislature party set to meet on December 2 or 3. The new Mahayuti government's swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for December 5,

The oath-taking ceremony of the new Mahayuti government will take place on December 5 evening at the Azad Maidan in south Mumbai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it.

Eknath Shinde announced that the BJP will choose Maharashtra's new Chief Minister, and he will fully support their decision. The Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP retained power in the assembly elections.
