The Phoenix Suns endured a torturous 36-46 season despite featuring the league's highest payroll, setting the wheels in motion for an offseason of change in the desert. The Suns fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after one season and are likely going to trade superstar forward Kevin Durant as he seeks a new destination.
Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports compiled some other teams that could make a run at Durant, and he mentioned a package the Nuggets could put together to pair Durant with Nikola Jokic. Here's the proposed offer from O'Connor: Michael Porter Jr., Peyton Watson, Julian Strawther, Hunter Tyson, and a 2031 first to Phoenix, Zeke Nnaji to a third team.
Furthermore, Durant worked with the Heat coach during the 2024 Summer Olympics with Team USA, where Spoelstra was an assistant coach under Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. If Miami were to trade for Durant, it would team up the 15-time All-Star with another pair of All-Stars, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania sparked a wave of speculation with his reaction to Iman Shumpert's suggestion that the San Antonio Spurs would be the best landing spot for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant.
