The Justice Department’s filing outlined a set of proposed remedies they want Google to undertake after a judge ruled that the company maintained an illegal monopoly in search.

Preferred by 61 percent of Internet users, Google's Chrome browser plays too big a role in maintaining the tech giant's search monopoly, the US Department of Justice has reportedly decided.

The proposed judgment comes after a federal judge found that Google had built its monopoly by ensuring that its search engine was the default on Chrome and Android devices.

Requirements that officials are preparing to propose include that Google separate Android from Search and Google Play, but without trying to force Google to sell off Android. Anot

Not only will a judge be asked to enforce Google's sale of Chrome, but the filing made to a Washington federal court also outlines that, "following its divestiture of Chrome [Google] may not reenter the browser market for five years " (via The Guardian ).

The proposal is one of DOJ's anti-trust cases that would be carried into the Trump administration, which is expected to be laxer in regulating businesses.
