One person is dead and at least 22 people have become sick from a Legionnaires’ disease cluster in New York City since last Friday, health officials said.

New York City officials said they are investigating a cluster of Legionnaires' disease that has caused one death and nearly two dozen illnesses.

At least 22 people have fallen ill, including one person who has died, from Legionnaires’ disease in New York City over the last two weeks, according to the city’s health department. City health officials believe that the people most likely became ill after breathing in bacteria sprayed from a cooling tower in central Harlem.

Over 100 passengers were rescued from a stranded Long Island Rail Road train near the Bayside station, which had become stuck in rising floodwaters during rush hour, according to WABC. Passengers had to wait about 2 hours before emergency crews could get them to safety.

Commuters in New York City climbed their way out of subway stations and experienced travel woes on the road as floodwaters swamped the area.

Flooding is possible across the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, especially in urban areas, with storms expected to bring heavy rain — up to 3 inches per hour.
