We're due for a new Nintendo Switch. The current model has performed valiantly for the last seven years but it's much showing its age in terms of processing power. Nintendo has had an interesting leadup to the launch of the Switch 2. It may be the most leaks I've ever seen for a new console. It's gotten to the point where almost everything about the Switch 2 is already known,

It all seems strangely out of character for Nintendo, which wasn't expected to even announce its Switch successor until around the end of March. However, a number of major leaks have appeared online over the last month or two, not least the dummy model that appeared at CES last week. That might have forced the company's hand.

As of this writing, Nintendo has only officially confirmed that a console is coming. President Shuntaro Furukawa has said that "an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch " will be made "within this fiscal year." That window extends through March 2025.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is closer than ever but I can't but hope Nintendo learns from its past to make the successor all it possibly can be.
