On his first full day as transportation secretary, Sean Duffy faced the deadliest U.S. aviation accident in more than 20 years. The midair collision near Washington, D.C., killed 67 people and just on Monday,

Duffy and his wife Rachel have nine children. The youngest, a girl, has Down syndrome. In September 2019, at age 47, Duffy resigned from Congress around the time of her birth, citing the need to spend more time with his family and to help care for his youngest daughter.

Duffy called each of the recent incidents "very unique" and also talked about recent layoffs and Elon Musk's efforts to overhaul the air traffic control system.
