The US and NATO leadership pushed to increase the alliance’s spending target from 2% of each member country’s GDP to 5%.

NATO alliance defense ministers have broadly endorsed a plan to increase spending to 5% of GDP, as US President Donald Trump has demanded the alliances members invest more.

Gathered Thursday at the headquarters of the alliance in Brussels, the defense ministers of the 32 allied countries confirmed their commitment to strengthening their respective armed forces and to investing in new military equipment to ensure the continent's defense in the face of the Russian threat.
