Los Angeles Lakers ESPN insider Dave McMenamin provided this unexpected LeBron James injury update as he continues to deal with sciatica.

The Lakers will have 10 players available against the Trail Blazers – seven signed to standard NBA deals and their three players signed to two-way contracts: Austin Reaves, Jake LaRavia, Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura, Deandre Ayton, Dalton Knecht and Bronny James; Nick Smith Jr. (two-way), Chris Manon (two-way) and Christian Koloko (two-way).

LeBron James isn't expected to make his season debut until around mid-November as he deals with sciatica on his right side, while Luka Doncic is currently sidelined due to a sprained left finger and a lower leg contusion. Gabe Vincent and Maxi Kleber are also on the shelf.

According to center Deandre Ayton, his teammates on the Lakers have a funny way of getting him to be at his best.

Austin Reaves did his best to keep the Lakers in the game, scoring 41 points one night after scoring a career-high 51 at Sacramento.
