A Michigan moviemaker says his dream is to one day bring film incentives back to his home state and shoot big movie productions here. Lawrence Lamont just made his major motion picture directorial debut in the new comedy film starring Keke Palmer and SZA.

Part of the pleasure of their journey is seeing who they’ll encounter along the way. “One of Them Days” though, blessedly, is not packed with super famous people. Instead, the obstacles for Dreux and Alyssa are simply played by sharp comic actors at the top of their game.

Keke Palmer and SZA bring back the buddy comedy and it couldn't have been more chaotic or funny. The film also stars Katt Williams and Maude Apatow.

SZA and Keke Palmer's "One of Them Days" revived the buddy comedy over the weekend, bringing hearty laughs with a (small) side of social commentary.

The Issa Rae-produced film came together from the CoCre lab at Sony Pictures, which was a pact between Hoorae Media's ColorCreative and Sony Pictures to source and produce emerging diverse screenwriters to write and develop their first studio features based on original ideas.
