Tropical Storm Fernand was approximately 300 miles southeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph as of 5 a.m.

Hurricane Erin has pushed into the north Atlantic and dissipated, but now we have a new tropical storm to watch.

"On the forecast track, Fernand should move across the open waters of the subtropical North Atlantic well east and northeast of Bermuda," the hurricane center said.
