Israeli strikes overnight in Gaza have killed at least 60 people, including many children. That’s according to local hospital officials on Wednesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday ordered the military to carry out immediate "powerful" strikes in the Gaza Strip, his office said. The statement comes after the prime minister held talks with security heads to discuss Israel's response to Hamas "violations" of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The US Secretary of State stated that the strike was not a violation of the Israel-Gaza ceasefire deal and drew attention to the 13 deceased hostages whose remains are still being held in Gaza.
