Nayan Vagadaya had driven more than three hours to the Civil Hospital here after he heard that his uncle was one of the victims of the Air India plane crash, the country’s deadliest in almost three decades.

Air India flight 171 was involved in a “tragic accident,” the airline’s chairman said. The flight had been due to fly from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick airport.
